Bishop Shelton C. Rhodes is the Pastor of Praise Cathedral Church of God In Christ, in San Antonio, Texas. He was appointed by Chief Apostle J. Drew Sheard, Presiding Bishop of the Church Of God In Christ, Inc., on December 2, 2021, following the transition of the late Bishop Samuel E. Iglehart. Prior to this ecumenical appointment, Bishop Rhodes served as pastor of the Greater Zion Temple Church of God In Christ, in Temple Texas for approximately 20 years, where he led the ministry to exceptional growth, expanding its service territory and ministry outreach efforts through evangelism, pastoral teaching, and various civic and social partnerships across the state of Texas and into the southern regions of the country.

With more than 31 years of dedicated service to the Lord and His Church, Bishop Rhodes remains actively involved as a leader and most supportive member at the local, jurisdictional, and national levels. He has served in the very progressive Greater Temple District for 26 years, from the ranks of the District Secretary to 21 years as District Superintendent. Most recently, he served approximately nine years as Administrative Assistant for the Texas Southwest Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction. For the past 23 years, he has served as Jurisdictional Treasurer, from the ranks of Assistant Treasurer, and as Vice Chairman of the Scholarship Committee. Bishop Rhodes is in his nineteenth year as Jurisdictional Trustee Board Chairman and has served in the capacity of interim pastor and district superintendent for approximately 20 churches and districts, as assigned by the jurisdictional prelate, the late Bishop S.E. Iglehart.

In November of 2016, Bishop Rhodes was the first, in Texas, Southwest history, to be consecrated Auxiliary Bishop by The Most Reverend Bishop C. E. Blake, Sr., Presiding Bishop of the Church of God in Christ, Inc. in the 109th Holy Convocation, in St. Louis, Missouri- as recommended by the late Bishop S. E. Iglehart, Prelate.

On September 20, 2017, Bishop Rhodes was elected, and subsequently appointed by Bishop John H. Sheard, Chairman, to serve on the National Board of Bishop’s Judiciary Committee of the Church of God in Christ, Inc. In March 2018 Bishop Rhodes was appointed to serve as the financial secretary for the Texas Inter-jurisdictional Council of Bishops.

After thirty-six (36) years of exemplary service, Bishop Rhodes retired as a federal loan officer. He has also served his community as a board member of a local food and shelter non-profit, in addition to being a very supportive member of the Temple Chamber of Commerce and active conduit in the Temple City Council.

Bishop Shelton C. Rhodes is a 1984 graduate of Tarleton State University, having earned a Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education, and is a state-certified teacher.

Bishop Rhodes is thankful to share his life and love to his wife of 34 years, Evangelist Missionary Deborah A. Rhodes. They have one son and one granddaughter.

Texas Southwest 2nd Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction, Department of Women

A native of Little Rock, Arkansas; born the seventh of nine children to Obie D. and Lillie Mae Weathers. She has resided in San Antonio, Texas with her husband, Deacon Calvin Ford for most of her life. They have been married forty-seven years and are the proud parents of six sons and one daughter with a growing family of many grand-children and great grandchildren.

In 1978 the Lord saved, sanctified, and filled her with the Holy Ghost. She was Licensed as Evangelist Missionary in the year 2000 by Bishop S.E. Iglehart and the late Mother Annie M. Cooper. She is a member of Praise Cathedral Church of God in Christ, formerly Childress Memorial Church of God in Christ, where she served the late Bishop T. D. Iglehart and Bishop S. E. Iglehart and currently serves Bishop S. C. Rhodes, who currently serves her Pastor and
Jurisdictional Prelate of Texas Southwest 2nd faithfully. She has served in many capacities in her local church for over forty years.

In 2003, she was appointed to serve The San Antonio District Women’s Department as Program Committee Chairperson and did so for over ten years working directly with the District Missionary. She was later appointed to serve as Jurisdictional State Elect Lady on the Communion Committee in April 2009. In March of 2013 she accepted the appointment of District Missionary of the Historical City District to serve with District Superintendent Joseph Johnson overseeing the Women’s Department. She worked faithfully with her District Superintendent to support his vision for the women’s work. She demonstrated an effective administrative role by establishing several new initiatives which included the establishment of the District Women’s Department bank account, initiated the Sunshine Band/Purity Class “Hour of Power,” organized the District’s Missionary Circle comprised of all Licensed and Aspiring Missionaries and implemented the District’s Academic Achievement Awards Program.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Texas State University and is a retired Educator from the San Antonio Independent School District. God has anointed Supervisor Ford to walk in the authority of what He has called and fully equipped her for. She loves the church. She is an excellent teacher and leader among women. She works in efficiency; she is an organizer and a forward thinker. She motivates the women to be diligent and serve the Lord in the beauty of holiness. One of her motto’s is “Holiness, Love it, Live it, Teach it.” She is a Holy woman of God; given to much prayer. She seeks to please Him and listens closely to obey His voice. You will often hear her say: This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24

She was elevated and appointed Supervisor of Women Designee for the Texas Southwest Jurisdiction on January 6, 2018, by Bishop S.E. Inglehart and Mother Barbara McCoo Lewis. She was officially installed to the office of Jurisdictional Supervisor of Women for Texas Southwest Jurisdiction on November 9, 2018, at the 111th Holy Convocation by Mother Barbara McCoo Lewis, General Supervisor of Women. Since her appointment she has been appointed to serve as an Executive Board Member and on the Special Convention Assistance Committee.
